REPP scoops impact investing award

26/10/21

The Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) has been named the winner of the Transformational Finance Solutions – Impact Investing award at this year’s Financial Times and IFC Transformational Business Awards.

The award recognises impact investing funds that demonstrate innovation, scalability and measured impact in their operations. The judging panel gave special attention to innovation in the fund manager’s approach to identifying, nurturing and scaling-up impact opportunities; the expected and realised impact results and financial returns; and the quality of impact leadership, management, measurement and reporting, taking as reference recognised industry standards.

REPP faced stiff competition in the form of Bamboo Capital Partners’ Financial Inclusion Fund II, LeapFrog Investments, IMPACT Community Capital LLC and UOB/Credit Suisse’s Asia Impact Investment Fund, but was declared the overall winner at today’s online ceremony.

Geoff Sinclair, Managing Director of REPP’s investment manager, A Camco Clean Energy, said: “To be recognised by the Financial Times and IFC like this is a tremendous honour for REPP and is a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the many people that have made REPP the success it is today.

“Recognition must be given to the Camco team who have and continue to work tirelessly to support REPP’s objective of building a self-sustaining renewable energy market in Sub-Saharan Africa. None of REPP’s achievements would have happened without them.

“I would also like to acknowledge REPP’s Board and Investment Committee, its investees and partners, and the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which provided REPP’s £148m funding. And finally a special mention to Peter Coveliers and Eric Usher, whose original vision led to the founding of REPP and everything it has achieved ever since.”
