Back-to-basics webinar on shareholders agreements attracts more than 100 participants
A REPP-hosted webinar aiming to throw light on the complexities of shareholders agreements was attended by more than 100 renewable energy project developers and other industry stakeholders.
During the live capacity-building event, Why fit-for-purpose shareholders agreements are critical to your project’s bankability, legal experts focused on the common threads that run through any clause-by-clause discussion of shareholder agreements, to better prepare developers for these critical conversations.
The one-hour session was kicked off with an introduction from Karl Upston-Hooper, General Counsel at Camco Clean Energy, which manages REPP. This was followed by an in-depth presentation on key considerations for developers by Joanne Elson, Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills, and a panel discussion with SunFunder’s Senior Counsel, Tinashe Makoni.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, during which attendees challenged the experts with both general and context-specific questions, including how to tackle key person risk or what to take into consideration in respect of lender step-in-rights.
In a post-webinar survey, 86% of the participants rated that they were “very satisfied” with the speakers’ presentation and subject knowledge.
The webinar was targeted primarily at renewable energy developers in Africa, but considered of interest to other stakeholders such as local finance providers as well as legal counsels.
