Dear <<First Name>>

Energy efficiency is the fastest, cleanest and cheapest way to tackle climate change and end mankind's dependence on fossil fuels. It remains the unsung hero of the energy world, but to realise its full potential energy efficiency must take centre stage.

Earlier this week, the Camco team was treated to a fascinating presentation from an Africa-focused energy efficiency specialist, who revealed that up to 43% of energy produced each year is wasted – which if capture, they claimed, would make enough savings to turn off every coal plants.

In some parts of the world that figure is far higher, with one US-government backed research facility claiming that 68% of the States’ energy is wasted

Whichever stat you look at, it is a staggering amount - and something that should be front of mind of every energy specialist, climate negotiator, policy maker and end-user on the planet.

Last year, Camco set up Spark Energy Services to help provide the necessary finance flows to increase the deployment of energy efficiency - and captive generation - initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa’s commercial and industrial sector. We are convinced that energy efficiency is the most cost-effective way for these businesses to address energy demand and that Spark offers the solutions needed to take energy efficiency to scale.

If you want to know more about the current state of energy efficiency in Sub-Saharan Africa’s C&I space and how Spark is working to address the barriers holding back progress, then check out this opinion piece in NextBillion by Camco’s Adam Fitzwilliam.

Cheers
