Friday, 06 August

Dear <<First Name>>

On the 9th of August, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will release the first report under its latest assessment cycle, its most comprehensive analysis on the science of climate change since 2013.

It is predicted that the report will act as a “wake-up call to governments” by assessing whether the world is on track to meet the Paris Agreement targets and, in turn, play a vital role in shaping discussions at COP26 in November.

Whilst 20 fossil fuel companies are responsible for one third of all carbon emissions, Camco is working to reduce energy sector emissions by driving the clean energy transition, and making a contribution to reducing emissions in the regions where we work.

Our expertise in the off-grid space has led to climate change adaptation and resilience benefits. Over the last three months alone, more than 138,000 people were connected to clean electricity for the first time across Sub-Saharan Africa through REPP-supported off-grid projects, bringing the total connected to date to over 719,000 – a testament to the hard work and innovative business models of REPP’s investees. More information is available in our most recent quarterly impact report

I have no doubt that the scientific findings presented by the IPCC on Monday will once again highlight the risks that climate change poses and I hope it causes governments and leaders around the world to take action.

Cheers

Geoff
