Dear <<First Name>>

Nearly 60,000 people were connected to electricity for the first time through projects supported by Camco-managed Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) over Q3, bringing the total number connected to date to over 1.2 million.

The figure is just one of many taken from REPP’s latest quarterly impact report that show how the UK government-funded programme is continuing to deliver transformational impact across Sub-Saharan Africa, and further cements its status as one of the leading investment platforms for small scale and distributed renewable energy across the region today.

Other highlights over the period include a 13% increase in the installed renewable energy capacity through REPP-supported projects, pushing the total above 30MW; over 82,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions avoided; and an additional GBP 7 million mobilised by third-party funders for clean energy projects.

With REPP’s current deployment phase coming to an end in 2023, Camco has been busily working on how REPP can be extended, building on its proven successes and many lessons learned. During COP27, we will be revealing our exciting plans for REPP’s future at this critical point in the platform’s history and how its next iteration will deliver transformational impact further and faster.

We are immensely proud of everything that has been achieved by REPP to date, and I applaud the British government for its far-sightedness back in 2015 when it decided to back the platform and for the innovative funding it has provided that has enabled REPP to evolve into what it has become today.

I was pleased to see Prime Minister Rishi Sunak revise his earlier decision not to attend COP27 this week. Under the UK’s presidency, COP26 achieved many positive outcomes last year and it is very important that the UK government continues to provide climate leadership. Sunak’s presence in Egypt will I am sure go some way to ensuring that.

Cheers
