West Africa
Nigeria: Solar power project company launches EPC tender for 100MW plant in Kogi state. PV Magazine
Ghana: Nation receives US$1.5m from AfDB to be used in removing barriers to renewable energy investments. Alternative Energy Africa
Nigeria: AfDB approves US$10 million into a infrastructure debt fund. ESI Africa
Sierra Leone: IFC to finance 50MW solar power plant. The project will take 2 years to and is expected to supply the grid at US$0.08/kWh. Alternative Energy Africa
Togo: Government approves construction of a new thermal power station. The 65MW plant will be constructed by the Eranove group. Alternative Energy Africa. 
East Africa
Kenya: New 165.4MW geothermal plant set to be commissioned in July 2019. Reuters 
Rwanda: AfDB extends €229.2m facility under the Scaling Up Electricity Access Program Phase II to improve the supply of power and increase electricity access rates. ESI Africa
Uganda: Nation commissions 20MW solar PV plant. The plant will be the second one connected to the grid. ESI Africa.
Kenya: President orders Ministry of Energy to bring down cost of electricity in order to support SMEs. All Africa.
Southern Africa
Zimbabwe: Soventix South Africa to begin construction of 22MWp solar PV project. The plant will produce 40GWh of power and local communities will own 10% of it. Renewables now
Mozambique: Government approves the 2018-2043 Integrated Master Plan aimed at increasing the county's generation capacity. ESI Africa.
Zimbabwe: Government plans to move from a commodity based tariff to an energy mix based tariff. All Africa
South Africa: IPPs welcome new infrastructure unit set up by the president. The move is aimed at increasing investor confidence after a troubled two years in the sector. Engineering news.

Vietnam: Utility EVN signed 35 PPAs for solar projects by the end of September 2018 with a capacity of 2271MW. Vietnam Energy Online.
