Dear <<First Name>>

People who tuned in for our Putting Women in the Spotlight forum on Wednesday were treated to a fascinating discussion on how to make sure women play a central role in the development of Small Island Developing States’s renewable energy sectors.

The online forum was co-hosted with 2X Collaborative and followed a similarly themed forum focused on the African market in February.

His Excellency Chad Blackman, UN Ambassador of Barbados and International Gender Champion, used his keynote to deliver a compelling case for why gender equality is so critical to the clean energy transition both in SIDS and beyond, and how ensuring women have "a seat at the table” can only be achieved through collective effort.

This set the tone for the panel discussion that followed, with the speakers made up of gender and climate finance experts and female entrepreneurs working directly in SIDS’ renewable energy sector.  The panel offered the audience unique insights and real-life experiences covering a range of issues, from barriers to finance to the importance of education and how a change in mindset could benefit women and men alike. (We will be sharing a full set of key takeaways in due course, so please look out for that).

The panel then opened up the discussion to the participants, bringing further on-the-ground experiences to the table and deepening the conversation. A full recording of the forum is available here

My enormous thanks to all of the speakers and attendees, and to everyone at 2X Collaborative and Camco involved in making the forum happen.

Cheers
