Dear <<First Name>>

On Monday, the world marked International Women’s Day, which is as much a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women as it is for bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights and domestic violence.

The annual event was officially honoured for the first time in 1911 when more than one million women and men attended rallies campaigning for women’s right to work, vote, be trained, hold public office and end discrimination. That there is still - more than a century later - a need to campaign for women’s rights and fair treatment is a damning indictment of today’s still male-dominated society.

Camco recognises that gender equality and female empowerment is crucial not just for making more healthy and just societies, but in addressing climate change and delivering on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. It’s also a lot better for business. In the clean energy space, for example, involving women and other marginalised people in energy-system supply chains leads to increases in productivity, organisational effectiveness, return on investment and higher consumer satisfaction.

It’s for all of these reasons that we promote gender equality and social inclusion through the rigorous implementation of our diversity action plans, both internally within Camco and through the projects we support.

But this is NOT something that we should or want to be congratulated on. We’re doing what we believe is right and necessary for bringing about a better and brighter future for all.

Cheers,

Geoff Sinclair

Managing Director, Camco Clean Energy
