West Africa
Senegal: 159 MW wind farm to add 15% to the countries generation capacity. EPC contract awarded to Danish firm Vestas supported by EKF who will offer an export loan of $163 million - ESI Africa.
Nigeria: Government piling pressure on distribution companies to end the estimation billing system and install pre-paid metering systems. - Energy news.

Kenya: $12 million dollar geothermal wells fail steam test, while the wells confirmed geothermal resource they lacked enough productivity - Business Daily.
Kenya: Consumers saved from $10 million fine as Lake Turkana wind project to be connected to the grid within a week. The government had committed to paying the monthly fine in the event the project was not connected. - Business Daily.
Tanzania: The South African Power Pool summit kicks off in the city of Arusha. The summit brings together national utilities from the South African Development Community. - All Africa
Kenya: Unilever signs deal with Azuri technologies that will see solar home systems offered through Unilever's distribution network. -  Renewable Energy World

Zambia: Round one of GET FiT launched for 100 MW solar PV tender. The request for proposal was launched by the Zambian Ministry of Energy and the GET FiT Zambia secretariat. - ESI Africa
South Africa: The government has set a target of a minimum of $25 billion for energy investments. - ESI Africa. 
South Africa: Enel Green Power RSA announces financial close of 5 wind power plants expected to cost $1.4 billion. Each plant will have a capacity of 140 MW. - African Energy.
Zimbabwe: Mauritian IPP Argentum Energy to roll out a phased 300 MW solar power plant to support mining activities. The project in partnership with the government will be in the Chegutu platinum mining area. - African Energy.
Caribbean and Southeast Asia
Vietnam: Vietnamese utility EVN signs PPA at $9.35 over 20 years with Thai firm B.Grimm Power. The project in south west Vietnam is expected to be 420 MW. - PV Tech.
Philippines: Boost for solar mini-grids as nations largest solar company sets target to bring power to 12 locations that have been asking for energy services. - Power Philippines.
Thailand: Government regulators impose additional fees on decentralised energy systems in fear of collecting less revenues. - The next web
 
Africa General / Rest of World
UK; World's largest wind farm title claimed by Orsted after Walney extension that saw the addition of 87 new wind turbines. The wind farm will now have a total capacity of 659 MW. - The Engineer
Spain: Ingeteam to supply inverters to worlds largest solar PV project. With a generation capacity of 500 MW, the project is expected to produce 750 million KWh and is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2019. - PV Tech.
South Korea: Macquarie capital Korea to finance the largest storage project.  The project, with a storage capacity of 35 MWh is expected to supply the equivalent of 7700 homes each year. The project is expected to have a lifetime of 25 years. - PV Tech.
